The Craft
The craft for Day 1 is a lantern made out of a glass jar. God led the Israelites out of Egypt by a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. Israelites also used oil lamps to help them in the dark. Settlers and cowboys in the West at first used lanterns and fire to help them see at night because they did not have or did not have access to lightbulbs and electricity. Lanterns are a good way to show the theme of "God guides us".
